As a part of its drive to modernize, increase capacity, update technology and improve the environmental friendliness of its operation, Alunorf decided to replace its worn-out pit type furnace (chambers 21-23) with a new pit-type furnace designed by Gautschi.

The award of this order is the continuation of long and reliable partnership between the companies, which rests on decades of shared experiences, business needs and performance evaluations.

All aspects of process control and process variables have been integrated into the equipment design and its automation system. Furthermore, this new furnace will be designed to cope with future new requirements regarding the variable quality of the gas supply at the Alunorf plant.

The complete project will be a logistical challenge, as the furnace will be designed and manufactured within only 9 months, installed within 3 months while production is running and commissioned within 2 months. These targets will allow full production by the end of 2022.
